    THE STUDIO

BAX studio is an architectural office based in Barcelona run by Boris Bežan and Mónica Juvera. Together with their team and a network of collaborators located in different countries, they have developed works whose quality and originality have been recognized with international awards. BAX studio approaches architecture from a reflective nature placing at the center of its design process the search for an idea that functions as a catalyst for unique and effective solutions. The result is a coherent and original architecture, while their proven technical expertise allows them to develop projects on a wide range of scales. Spatial richness, dialogue with pre-existences, and the relationship between architecture and public space become common and inherent criteria in their work.

    Boris Bežan

Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana with a master’s degree in architecture and contemporary culture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He established Bax studio in 2017 as part of the continuation of MX_SI architectural studio, which he co-founded in 2005 after winning his first important international competition “Federico Garcia Lorca Center” in Granada. In cooperation with partners, he has won several international important architectural open competitions such as Gösta Pavilion Serlachius Museum in Finland, Papalote museum in Mexico, Rog Cultural center in Slovenia, and Kunstsilo museum in Norway. His works were published and recognized worldwide and he received several important prizes that confirm the quality of his realizations like the Plečnik award in 2014 and the Spanish international architecture prize award in 2013. In addition to his architectural practice, he is involved in architectural education teaching at the Faculty of Architecture in Maribor.
