SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX | KRŠKO, SLOVENIA

The project entails the creation of a new promenade, which establishes a connection between the renovated Military Bridge and the entrance to the cemetery. The promenade thus becomes the central spine of the area, separating the part dedicated to the new swimming pool and the remaining park and sports areas. In this capacity, it functions as a kind of central square, a meeting place to which the public programme of the pool facility opens up. The design of the new building is both compact and structurally ambitious, with a gentle slope towards the river and large overhangs. This gives the impression that the pool is somehow suspended above the predominantly natural landscape that surrounds it. The architectural design of the pool building comprises a compact rectangular volume that meets the promenade with its longer side. The structural design, which is both clear and ambitious, allows for few supports on the façade, thereby ensuring the distinctive expressiveness of the building and allowing a complete connection between the interior and the exterior.
